Good for my skin. Good for general health. Good for keeping me satiated.
Question: do I count the water in my coffee? I'll have to do some research.
The 101
This may end up being just as much work as getting down to my goal weight. It'll be constant vigilance. Not that it has to get in the way of me enjoying my day, but I'm not the kind of person that can just forget about what I'm eating or if I'm exercising enough without some real consequences.
This is one of those burdens that may turn out to be a blessing -- at some point, doesn't everyone have to become vigilant of their health? If I have to learn the best way to do that early in life, I'll just have a head start.
Did you know that bacteria collect in your teeth, and they die, and they stink? Yeah. That's why I'm flossing every day. Finally.
This has, up to now, come down to laziness. I know, *know* if I spend any more than about 10 minutes in direct sunlight, I'll get burned, or on my way to it. But I hate sun block. It smells, it's sticky, it stings my face. Oh well. Better than a problem down the line. And the ridiculous burn lines.
Dessert has become a habit for me. Done with dinner? Time for dessert! In fact, I won't be even halfway through my dinner before I'm already thinking about whatever sweet treat I have planned for afterward. It's obliterated any pleasure I should be getting out of the dinner in front of me.
So seeing as dessert's just a habit, it may be any easy place to sneak in fruit.
I'm secretly hoping that -- as going on Weight Watchers redefined what it took to satisfy me during a meal -- switching to fruits will help redefine what satisfies my sweet tooth.
And I imagine that with all the refined sugars I've consumed, I've numbed my taste buds to intricacies of naturally sweet foods. It'd be interesting to see how I can open my palette by simply clearing the playing field.
Dairy doesn't sound like something someone should have to give up, right? Well, I think I'm more trying to eliminate the types of dairy I eat -- cheeses and heavy creams. I can't remember the last time I had milk, and I rarely choose the lowfat cheese options if there are perfectly tasty full-fat options available.
It may be going overboard to eliminate all dairy from my diet for any amount of time, but I'm not sure there's anything explicitly wrong with doing it, either. As long as I get my calcium and vitamins, I shouldn't be depriving myself of good things.
And if I find some acceptable, healthy alternatives for my coffee, that's no so bad.
I've started on this one already. And I like it. For the first time, I had red wine with dinner (a simple rice and beans) and truly enjoyed it.
Sounds so easy. But for some reason, the only time I've taken my vitamins lately is when Patrick has put them in my hand. Well that's just silly. I will say, I'd be a whole lot more inclined to take my pill every single morning if they made Flinstone's vitamins for grown-ups. I mean, I *am* a big kid now.
